Natural Ways to Increase your Energy

Some days it feels like you don’t have enough energy, need to rest, or can’t accomplish tasks. There are many ways to help your body and increase your energy levels naturally.

1. Sleep

You have heard this one for years, but sleep is truly the best reset button. Start to focus on sleep like it’s an appointment. Block out certain times to wind down, maybe shower or take a bath, dim the lights, put your electronics away and rest. Try not to rush toward bedtime; give yourself an hour to actually lay down at a certain time.

For example, you choose 10 PM, make sure you are ready for bed at 9 PM and then start the process. Have a cool, dark room, and make sure it’s quiet. Sleeping 8 hours is the recommended number of hours during the night, so make sure your sleeping space is helpful for that in the morning. If the sun comes into your room in the morning, you can buy black-out blinds. Really focus on sleep and keep this habit for two weeks, and it will become routine. You won’t regret getting into bed and sleeping. It will naturally give you more energy.

2. Exercise

Just like sleep, you have been told that exercise is good for your body for years. The statements are true. Schedule exercise into your day just like you did with sleep. Make it a priority. If you can get exercise in the morning, it will boost your metabolism for the day and your energy. Aim for 30-60 minutes of exercise a day. People that exercise are happier and more energetic.

3. Balanced diet

Your diet and lifestyle directly affect your energy. Eat foods in moderation and eat healthy foods during those mealtimes. Keep your carbohydrate intake low and vegetable intake high. Eat a small amount of protein each day and stay away from sweets. Processed Sugar foods such as candy, donuts, desserts, and others will spike your blood sugar, give you energy for 10 minutes, and then you will crash. Limit those foods. Eating a balanced diet will make your body feel its best and operate at its best, giving you great natural energy.

4. B12

B12 has been promoted as a natural way to get energy. It’s added to sports drinks and many foods. B12 naturally occurs in animal products such as fish, meat, poultry, dairy products, and eggs. Vitamin B12 is required for the development, myelination, the function of the central nervous system, healthy red blood cell formation, and DNA synthesis. It is common to hear of people having a B12 deficiency and taking B12 or eating it.
